Acupuncture

Methods

Dr. Gil Alvarado, N.D., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM) is a naturopathic physician and acupuncturist with over 35 years experience helping people improve their health.

In its simplest form acupuncture may be thought of as the insertion of very fine needles in reflex points on the body to affect a healing response. The understanding and development of this process has been going on for about 5,000 years, so it is now very highly developed and effective in the hands of a skilled and experienced practitioner.

In the United States, where the use of acupuncture is relatively new, it is best known for relieving people’s pain. When done properly it is in fact very effective in relieving pain – and without any toxic side effects. The relief of pain, however, is really just a sign post indicating that the person’s innate healing forces are being focused on the organ. system or area involved. In this way acupuncture not only relieves symptoms but assists in clearing the underlying cause of these symptoms. In the hands of a skilled acupuncturist, acupuncture is a valuable tool for helping to heal most of the conditions listed on this web site.

In physics it is well known that energy directs physical matter, and the same is true in bio-physics. By balancing a person’s innate healing energy, their physical body is directed to heal. Pain is most often a symptom alerting a person that something is not right and requires care. When acupuncture re-establishes the balanced flow of healing energy to the organ, system or area involved, you begin to heal. Your pain or other symptoms are no longer needed, and therefore leave you.

All of this may sound very odd if you are not used to thinking in these terms. What you may be interested to know is that in recent years a massive amount of research has been done on acupuncture, and it has proven itself to be tremendously effective for a large number of people, and the conditions they suffer from.

The World Health Organization has published a long list of conditions proven to be helped by acupuncture. Dr. Gil, with his years of experience, has used it effectively to help people with these and many more conditions that you will find listed on this web site.

Acupuncture works. This is why it has grown so rapidly in the United States in the past few years, and this is why it is not only recognized as a valid and useful therapy in alternative health circles, but now in most conventional medical circles as well.
